John Marshall Park
Some of the most important work happens long before the public ever sees the finished result.
Selected by the National Park Service, Terra Constructs led the design-build rehabilitation and modernization of John Marshall Park’s historic fountain system along Pennsylvania Avenue NW, directly adjacent to the United States Courthouse.
The work required preservation and infrastructure to move together. Our team restored circular fountain basins, installed new waterproofing systems, upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, replaced fountain plumbing, improved drainage connections, and protected adjacent historic resources while maintaining access in a high-visibility civic setting.
Over five months, our crews invested more than 17,000 man-hours restoring the park’s historic fountain system while modernizing the critical infrastructure beneath it. From clearing snow after winter storms and coordinating design solutions in the field to installing new mechanical systems, waterproofing, utilities, and restoring historic features, every step required teamwork, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
These projects are about more than construction. They are about preserving places that connect generations, improving public spaces for millions of visitors, and honoring the skilled tradespeople whose work often goes unnoticed once the project is complete.
