Project Manager – Heavy Civil
Terra Constructs is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong heavy civil construction background to join our growing team. The Project Manager provides leadership and direction across all phases of project delivery – from pre-construction through closeout – ensuring that all projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role serves as the primary liaison between Terra Constructs, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, representing the company’s values of integrity, excellence, and collaboration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution for heavy civil projects, including sitework, infrastructure, and federal or municipal contracts.
- Oversee all aspects of project management, including submittals, RFIs, pay applications, and change order negotiations.
- Manage and mentor field superintendents and support staff to ensure project goals are met and safety standards are upheld.
- Coordinate with estimating and procurement teams during pre-construction to establish budgets, scopes, and schedules.
- Attend and lead project meetings, including progress reviews, quality control (QC), and safety meetings.
- Maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle and identify opportunities for future work.
- Proactively identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with all safety and contractual requirements.
- Track and report financial performance, including cost forecasts, cash flow, and margin management.
- Ensure effective project closeout, including punch list completion, documentation, and client satisfaction.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive field or project management experience in heavy civil construction (e.g., site development, infrastructure, bridges, utilities, or federal construction).
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, means, scheduling, and safety practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat; experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, or similar) is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prepare detailed Scopes of Work (SOWs), change order estimates, and proposals.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed for site visits and client meetings.
- Must successfully pass a drug screening and meet company and client compliance requirements.
