Terra Constructs announced that it has made a generous donation alongside its bank, MainStreet Bank, to help the Dulles Chamber of Commerce establish the Dulles Regional Charitable Fund.
The Dulles Regional Charitable Fund was created to address the immediate needs of individuals and families in the local community who are struggling to meet basic needs due to the impact of COVID-19. The fund empowers our local non-profit organizations to serve those in need by garnering donations from businesses and individuals. With the current pandemic affecting millions of Americans, the need for charitable giving has escalated immensely. State and county funds are stretched, and many service organizations have been unable to raise funds by traditional methods. The Dulles Regional Charitable Fund aims to bridge this gap by encouraging Corporate Social Responsibility among the businesses that are fortunate to be weathering the storm. John Boylan, President & CEO of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, explained the need for help in the local region, saying “The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak is affecting us all and especially putting a burden on our region’s non-profits. We are experiencing a spike in the need for food banks, diapers and housing. With limits on volunteers and donors, it is critical we ask the business community for support. The state and county funds are stretched and will not cover the need. And the need is increasing.”
Terra Constructs and MainStreet Bank saw the need and responded by supporting the development of the charitable fund. ”I am proud to partner with the Chamber and MainStreet Bank to raise funds for much-needed resources for our community members who are struggling during these challenging times, said Babur R. Mian, P.E., President and CEO of Terra Constructs. “As a minority and a Muslim, I have a unique perspective of the disproportionate impact this virus has had on minorities and less fortunate populations. I feel blessed that we have been able to continue serving our clients and keep our staff employed and safe during this period of uncertainty and mass unemployment. My heart goes out to all who are struggling to meet the basic needs of their families.”
Jeff W. Dick, Chairman and CEO of MainStreet Bancshares, Inc. and MainStreet Bank, expressed his confidence in The Dulles Chamber and the ability to get funds to where they are needed most. “We are a community Bank and helping to establish this Charitable Fund for our community is very meaningful for us,” he said. “The Dulles Chamber is a significant asset serving our Northern Virginia communities, and with Kerrie Wilson of Cornerstones leading the Chamber’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, I am confident that donations will get to people who truly need a helping hand.”
Terra Constructs joined with MainStreet Bank on this project as part of their ongoing commitment to support the communities they helped to build. Since its inception in 2013, Terra has been active in numerous major infrastructure projects in the Northern Virginia market, utilizing its construction and engineering expertise to help improve the lives of Virginians.
